Wednesday 09/05/08 - Kitaoji-dori

Todays adventure begins with a wander down Kitaoji-dori from which you can see the "Hidari Daimonji" a giant Daimonji Okuribi Fire Festival character on the hillside above Kyoto. During the Daimonji festival these giant characters are lit up all across Japan like giant "wickerman" bonfires... hopefully without Christopher Lee's cult performance!
