Tuesday 08/05/07 - Kyoto Imperial Palace

The next stop on our rapid tour is the Kyoto Imperial Palace. Unfortunately, you have to book access to the inside of the Palace well in advance. So we just made do with wandering round the vast estate and gardens and meeting some of the local wildlife up close and personal.








The day finished with a wander down Karasuma dori, with a stop of in the new Kyoto International Manga Museum for a look at the origins of everyones favorite comic art. The entire contents of the museums vast Manga library was donated by a collector and comic shop owner from Tokyo. It is quite bizarre to see men and women of all ages enjoying the simple pleasure of comics, without the childish stigma attached to it in the west!

On our walk back home for a date with the lavish hotel bar we also found "London" ... it was just like back home, only smaller and just served cakes!
