Tuesday 08/05/07 - Sanjusangen-Do

With Masami's trusty annotated guide book in hand we set out to discover some of Japans rich cultural heritage.

First stop on todays round trip is Sanjusangen-Do (33 bay hall)
Home of the 1001 images of Kannon. Just over a thousand handmade statues of the Goddess of Mercy and her protectors. (Alas, To protect the protectors, no photos are allowed inside the halls. I've picked up the post cards if anyone is interested when I get back)

Until then enjoy these sun drenched shots of the temple grounds and outer shrine...

Yogen-In, a starter before the main event that is Sanjusangen-Do.

One of Hendrix's (my dog) ancestors?
